According to the New Wokeometer Website, Baldur’s Gate 3 is Not a Woke

Wokeometer has emerged as a new website that evaluates modern entertainment content based on specific cultural and ideological themes. The site uses criteria such as identity politics, gender, DEI representation, activism, and how “educational” the narrative is to rate games and other productions. However, the 3/10 score given to Baldur’s Gate 3 quickly sparked debate about the site’s rating methodology, considering the game’s themes.

Wokeometer Gives Baldur’s Gate 3 Only 3/10

Baldur’s Gate 3 allows players to choose pronouns regardless of body type and enables romantic relationships between same-sex characters. Polyamorous relationships are also possible in the game. In addition, the character cast is quite diverse. Despite this, Wokeometer does not give the game a score close to “woke.”

The game’s story also contains themes that can be interpreted politically and socially. The first part deals with a refugee crisis through the displacement of tieflings, and discrimination between different groups becomes an explicit part of the story. Despite this, the site’s scoring suggests that these themes are given low weight in the evaluation.

According to Wokeometer’s own explanation, the system looks not only at the presence of themes but also at how “forced” or directly message-driven they are. However, a $3 monthly subscription is required to see detailed category scores. Therefore, from an outsider’s perspective, it’s not entirely clear why Baldur’s Gate 3 only received a 3/10.

Other scores on the site also lead to similar discussions. No, I’m Not A Human receives a 0/10, while Metaphor: ReFantazio is rated at 7/10. Therefore, Wokeometer’s measurement system seems to focus more on how themes are interpreted rather than on which themes the games contain.
