According to Holland, Peter will struggle with feelings of loneliness in a world where no one remembers him.
Tom Holland Highlights Peter Parker’s Loneliness
At the film’s red carpet event in Amsterdam, Tom Holland stated that his character’s biggest problem is probably loneliness. Reminding everyone that Peter Parker is now completely alone, the actor said that this might not seem as big as classic superhero threats, but it forms the emotional core of the story. Peter no longer has a family, friends, or support network to rely on.
At the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange’s spell caused everyone in the world to forget Peter Parker. While this decision saved the universe, it severed all ties with the people Peter loved, including MJ and Ned. The new film will explore how the character misses them, wants to re-enter their lives, and searches for a community to belong to.
Shared images reportedly show Peter following MJ and Ned on social media, trying to approach them by introducing himself as a new friend. However, it’s suggested that this attempt could make MJ a target. A mysterious enemy making threatening remarks about MJ might lead Peter to believe that forming close relationships could put the people he loves in danger again.
Holland stated that Peter will overcome this difficulty throughout the film and learn an important lesson from his experience. While Spider-Man is expected to fight Scorpion, Boomerang, and other enemies, the real challenge will be finding the people he’ll fight for again.
