AMD FSR3 (AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3) is out. Right now, there are only two games that support it. Forspoken is one of two games with FSR3 support and the other one is Immortals of Aveum.
What is the performance of AMD FSR3?
In November 2022, AMD revealed their latest upscaling technology to compete with Nvidia’s DLSS 3 and that technology called AMD FSR3. At the time, it was said to arrive in 2023 and combine AMD’s Fluid Motion Video frame generation technology with FSR upscaling.

While rumors are all around about the launch of FSR3, it was believed that Bethesda’s Starfield will come with support for the latest technology, but clearly that was not true. Starfield didnt support FSR3 but instead DLSS support.
Now, AMD has officially released the FSR3 update for Forspoken and Immortals of Aveum. The company has now shared through a blog post that Forspoken has received the update as of 9 a.m. ET, and that Immortals of Aveum will get it later in the day. Forspoken, which is only available on PS5 and PC, has become the first game to have FSR3 support.
AMD FSR3 comes with frame generation and the new “Native AA” quality mode. It uses an enhanced version of the company’s Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF) optical flow technology to generate frames for a smoother gaming experience.
According to the data shared by the company, Forspoken sees a huge jump from 58 FPS (FSR3 off) to 201 FPS (FSR3 Performance Mode + Frame generation) on the Radeon RX 7900 XTX when running at 4K with Ultra High settings. The RX 6800 XT went from 37 FPS to 129 FPS. At 1440p, the RX 7600 saw a performance boost of 38 FPS to 118 FPS.
To counter the latency introduced by image generation, FSR3 has its own latency reduction technology that will work with all GPUs, but the games must have support for it. Coupled with Anti-Lag+ technology, the latency can be further reduced in supported games.

AMD has also announced 12 more games that will be getting FSR3 support. Unfortunately, Starfield is not among them. The list includes Cyberpunk 2077, Eve Online, Frostpunk 2, Space Marine 2, Black Myth Wukong, Crimson Desert, and others. As of now, there is no timeline for when these games will be updated to add FSR3 support. Notably, Cyberpunk 2077 recently got support for DLSS 3.5 with the latest patch.
FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 is supported on AMD Radeon RX 5000 series, RX 6000 series, and RX 7000 series of graphics cards. On top of that, it is also supported by Nvidia GPUs including RTX 20 series, 30 series, and 40 series.
