Capcom Plans to Turn Pragmata Into a New Series

Pragmata finally launched after a long development process, and it seems the wait paid off for Capcom. Receiving strong reviews from both critics and players, the game quickly garnered significant sales figures, drawing attention. Now the real question is: will Capcom leave Pragmata as a one-off success, or will it transform it into a new series?

Pragmata Could Be a New Brand for Capcom

Capcom USA COO Rob Dyer stated that Pragmata could be a new IP that the company could continue to develop in the future. Dyer’s statement doesn’t directly mean a sequel announcement, but it shows that Capcom is considering Pragmata in its long-term plans. For a company with giant brands like Resident Evil, creating a new and successful IP is always a significant advantage.

The game’s success strengthens this possibility. It’s reported that Pragmata reached 1 million sales in two days and is a candidate to become one of Capcom’s highest-rated games. This shows that the game has transformed from a highly anticipated project into a commercially and critically successful production.

Of course, there’s no official announcement yet regarding a sequel or an expanded universe. Given the lengthy development process of Pragmata, it’s natural for Capcom to be cautious before taking a new step. However, considering the game’s world, characters, and mechanics, it can be said that it offers a very suitable foundation for building new stories.

Pragmata’s integration of the relationship between Hugh and Diana with a science fiction atmosphere is one of the aspects that sets it apart from similar games. If Capcom develops this connection correctly, Pragmata might not only remain a successful new game; it could carve out a permanent place for itself alongside the company’s strong brands like Resident Evil and Monster Hunter.
