Colman Domingo left the door open for Marvel
Colman Domingo has drawn attention with his recent statements regarding the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The successful actor stated that he is not entirely closed to the MCU, but if he were to be part of it, he would want a role that is unique, deep, and groundbreaking. Domingo, who confirmed he had previously held discussions with Marvel, particularly highlighted his interest in playing villains. This approach raises new possibilities for Marvel’s future plans.
Colman Domingo Clarifies His Villain Condition
In an interview, Colman Domingo explicitly stated that he would like to portray a villain if he were to be part of the Marvel universe. The actor said he finds it more interesting to explore the human side of villains and that he is excited by antagonists who evoke empathy in the audience. According to him, a villain’s past, turning points, and motivations make the story much stronger.
Domingo’s approach has also revived the Kang rumors that surfaced in 2024. While the actor confirmed he was in talks with Marvel Studios at that time, he made it clear he didn’t want to replace another actor. Colman Domingo emphasizes that he would prefer to create a character entirely his own, from scratch, rather than taking on such a role.
Meanwhile, Domingo’s name continues to be associated with various projects on the Marvel side. Having previously voiced Norman Osborn in animation, he’s being discussed as a strong candidate if Marvel were to reimagine this iconic villain in live-action. This possibility aligns with both Marvel’s desire to reinterpret the character and Domingo’s desire to “build from the ground up.”
For now, Colman Domingo’s future in the MCU remains uncertain. However, his statements suggest he hasn’t completely closed the door on Marvel and could make a strong entry into the universe if the right conditions are met. The idea of a deep, well-developed villain could be one of the notable moves in Marvel’s new era.
