DECAPOLICE will Solve Real-life Murders in the Virtual World
DECAPOLICE has reappeared with a new three-minute gameplay video released at Tokyo Game Show 2026. Developed by LEVEL-5, the game will offer an investigation system that alternates between the real world and a virtual city, unlike classic detective games. Players will not only collect clues but also engage in direct confrontations with suspects when necessary.
DECAPOLICE Will Open Up Virtual Crime Scenes for Investigation
One of the game’s most important systems will be a virtual world called DECASIM. This functions like a digital copy of the city and holds memories of past crimes. Detectives will be able to enter recreated crime scenes to search for evidence and use the information they find to solve real-world cases.
The collected evidence is then added to a special case board. Players can advance the investigation by making connections between suspects, objects, and possible criminal motives. So the game won’t just be about selecting the correct option; understanding how the gathered information connects will also be crucial.
Not every investigation will end with a quiet arrest. Some criminals can transform into creatures called Crime Beasts, composed of their own malevolent emotions, and that’s where turn-based RPG combat comes into play. While some opponents can be persuaded to surrender through dialogue, futuristic equipment will be used to neutralize more dangerous targets.
At the center of the story is young and talented detective Harvard Marks. Marks leads a special investigation team of rookies, occasionally stepping outside the boundaries of police rules. Originally announced in 2023, DECAPOLICE, after several delays, will be released in 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. A television anime adaptation set in the same universe is also in development.
