ESRB Rating for Marathon Revealed
As the countdown to Marathon continues, another development regarding the game has emerged. Bungie’s highly anticipated extraction shooter has been officially rated by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) just before its release. According to the shared information, Marathon has been classified in the T for Teen category, meaning it is suitable for young players.
What Does the Marathon ESRB Rating Mean?
The reasons for the Teen rating given by the ESRB include violence, language use, and animated blood effects. This indicates that Marathon will have an action-packed gameplay but will avoid overly graphic content. Considering the extraction shooter genre, this rating is not surprising.
The server tests conducted before the game’s release also attracted considerable attention. During the test, which took place at the end of February, the game quickly drew hundreds of thousands of players. At its peak, over 140,000 players reportedly tried the game simultaneously, although some technical issues and bugs were also reported during the testing period.
Bungie has prepared a long-term plan for Marathon. According to shared information, the game will progress using a seasonal system. Preparations are underway for the first season, followed by a second season called Nightfall starting in June, and a third season planned for later in the year.
It is stated that players’ equipment and progress will be reset at the beginning of each season. The aim of this system is to create a fresh start for all players. However, the recent closure of many live server games suggests that Marathon’s long-term success will depend on the interest of its player community.
