First-person Puzzle Game Yerba Buena Introduced
Focus Entertainment and Mad About Pandas have announced a new puzzle platform game that stands out with its intriguing concept. Yerba Buena takes players on a unique journey through a story told from the perspective of an NPC living in an abandoned game world. Played from a first-person standpoint, Yerba Buena aims to impress with its creative puzzles and unusual gameplay mechanics.
What Kind of Game Will Yerba Buena Be?
According to the announcement, Yerba Buena is being developed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC platforms. The PC version will be released on Steam. The release date has not yet been announced.
In the game, players control a character named Barb. Barb, an ordinary NPC living in an abandoned game world, is drawn into the center of a mysterious event threatening the city. As the story progresses, Barb begins to uncover a grand conspiracy threatening San Francisco.
One of the most striking aspects of the game is its “Copy and Paste” mechanics. Using a device called the Oscillator, Barb can copy the physical properties of objects in the environment and apply them to other objects. For example, it’s possible to transform a table into a platform with a jumping feature or move a large building to a different location.
The game world takes place in a surreal environment inspired by 1970s San Francisco. As players explore the city, they encounter different characters, collect clues, and investigate the source of the mystery threatening the city.
As they progress, the Oscillator device gains new features, enabling the solution of more complex environmental puzzles. By combining different abilities, players manipulate the environment and gradually uncover the secrets of the abandoned game world.
