First Rumors have Surfaced about the Green Lantern Movie, Even Suggesting the Lead Actor has been Cast
Things may be growing faster than expected on the Green Lantern front. Following the positive reception of the Lanterns series on HBO, it’s been suggested that DC Studios has started working on a new movie. There’s no official announcement yet, but if the rumor is true, the project will bring some characters we already know from the series directly to the big screen.
Green Lantern Movie May Focus on John Stewart and Guy Gardner
According to a new claim circulating on social media, DC Studios has accelerated the development of the Green Lantern movie. It’s said that the project will center around Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart and Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner. So, instead of creating an entirely new cast, the film may bring together the Lanterns we’ve already seen in the DCU.
The situation with Hal Jordan is a bit more complicated. It was previously rumored that Kyle Chandler only signed a one-season deal for Lanterns, making the character’s future in the show quite controversial. Therefore, it’s unknown whether Hal will appear in the new film. Fans have already begun discussing adaptations of larger cosmic storylines like Parallax or Sinestro Corps War.
The Lanterns series uses the Green Lantern Corps in a darker, more grounded police procedural rather than the massive space battles we’re used to. John Stewart’s appearance in Man of Tomorrow already suggests the character will take on a larger role within the DCU. A feature film could be the natural next step in this transition.
However, we shouldn’t get our hopes up too much here. DC Studios hasn’t officially announced a Green Lantern film yet, and the information is currently just rumor. Preparations for a second season of Lanterns may also be underway. So, whether the series will expand or the story will move to the big screen, we’ll have to wait a little longer to find out.
