First Third-Party SteamOS Handheld Console Leaked

Valve isn’t necessarily against the idea, even though its Steam Deck alternatives won’t come with SteamOS out of the box. The company has always said it wants to provide third-party companies with versions of SteamOS for use with their devices. The latest leak reveals the first portable device that could have SteamOS as the factory default.

Lenovo Legion Go S Could Get SteamOS

Recent leaks about the Lenovo Legion Go S, as spotted by The Verge , have revealed a black and white model. This wouldn’t usually be newsworthy, but what’s interesting is that the black model has a dedicated button with the Steam logo on it, while the white model doesn’t. You can see images of that product by clicking here .

So what does this mean? If the leaks are to be believed, the most likely scenario is that Lenovo will sell two different models of the Legion Go S. The white model will likely come with Windows, while the black model will come with SteamOS. People will be able to choose which one they want depending on what they want from their system. It will also be the first third-party portable device to come with SteamOS out of the box.

If you haven’t heard of the Lenovo Legion Go S before, it’s an interesting model. It’s rumored to be a limited edition of the regular Legion Go that’s expected to come with a lower price tag. People are predicting it to be around $399-$449, which would make it a great entry point for those who haven’t yet entered the world of portable gaming. And if this SteamOS model leak turns out to be true, the console would be much more exciting than a cheap alternative.
