God of War Ragnarok Will Get Big PS5 Pro Upgrade
God of War Ragnarok will get PS5 Pro upgrade along with major update and upgrades to performance and visuals.
Big Upgrade for God of War Ragnarok
Revealed during Mark Cerny’s PS5 Technical Presentation, the PS5 Pro launches on November 7 as a disc-less console for $699.99. The console offers a 45% boost in rendering power over the base PS5, thanks to 67% more compute units for the GPU. Cerny noted that the console is capable of running games at 60 frames per second with the visual fidelity players can expect from a Graphics Mode, without needing to toggle a Performance Mode and lower the game’s resolution. Games can also benefit from the console’s advanced ray tracing capabilities and the new PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) AI-driven upscaling feature. Moreover, PlayStation confirmed that dozens of existing PS5 games, including Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Gran Turismo 7, will receive a PS5 Pro Enhanced update with performance and visual improvements.
As spotted by Push Square, the PlayStation Store listing for God of War Ragnarok was recently updated, confirming that it will be a PS5 Pro Enhanced game. It’s unclear if the game will receive its PS5 Pro Enhanced update on November 7, but PlayStation will likely share more details about its PS5 Pro Enhanced titles before the console’s launch. With the update, God of War Ragnarok is expected to support PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, which uses AI-driven technology on the PS5 Pro to enhance image quality and maintain high frame rates. This should make it possible to run God of War Ragnarok in 4K at 60 FPS on PS5 Pro.
It’s worth noting that God of War Ragnarok does not feature ray tracing, so this particular feature is not a factor in the PS5 Pro version’s performance. Players who don’t want to wait for the PS5 Pro upgrade may enjoy the PC version of God of War Ragnarok, which supports similar features if the game is running on compatible hardware.
