Ubisoft has Hinted at a New Assassin’s Creed Remake Project

Ubisoft has drawn attention with a quiet update that brings the first Assassin’s Creed game, released in 2007, back into the spotlight. The visual changes made to the game’s Steam page include new cover art and a logo more in line with the series’ modern brand identity. While it might seem like a simple store update at first glance, Ubisoft’s previous statements about working on multiple Assassin’s Creed remake projects have led players to approach this update with more suspicion.

Ubisoft May Be Preparing a Remake for the First Assassin’s Creed

According to SteamDB records, the store assets for the original Assassin’s Creed were updated on September 16, 2026. The library visuals and logo were brought closer to the design language the series uses today. This change quickly led to speculation that the first game might also receive a remake similar to Black Flag: Resynced.

The most important detail strengthening this possibility is a statement made by Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot in 2024. Guillemot confirmed that the company planned multiple remakes to modernize the old Assassin’s Creed games. However, no specific names were given at the time regarding which games would be selected.

The release of Black Flag: Resynced in July 2026 and its strong sales figures also contribute to the growth of these rumors. The first Assassin’s Creed, with its introduction of Altaïr Ibn-La’Ahad, its foundation in the Assassin-Templar conflict, and its shaping of the entire series’ structure, seems like a very natural candidate for a remake.

However, Ubisoft has not yet officially announced the first Assassin’s Creed remake. The refresh of the Steam visuals could simply be a routine change made for sales periods, brand consistency, or store layout. Therefore, there is no definitive teaser; However, considering Ubisoft’s past statements, the timing of the minor update was enough to grab players’ attention.
