In Path of Exile 2, the boss didn’t care about the 95 million damage

With the start of new leagues, a familiar cycle begins in the Path of Exile community: players try to “break” the game by building structures that deal extreme damage. The situation was no different in Path of Exile 2. A group of players managed to deal astronomical levels of damage to bosses by building a structure that theoretically seemed incredibly powerful. However, the result wasn’t what they expected.

Path of Exile 2 Hits Damage Limit

According to leaked videos, bosses stop taking damage when the damage threshold of approximately 35.7 million damage per second is exceeded. Even if the players reach values exceeding 95 million damage, the boss’s health bar freezes. This seems to be due to the game no longer being able to calculate the damage.

This interesting discovery points to a similar technical limitation to the first game in the series, Path of Exile. However, there’s a significant difference. In the first game, exceeding the damage limit caused the system to drop the value just below the limit. In Path of Exile 2, this is completely reversed, and the damage is reset to zero. As a result, no progress can be made against the boss, regardless of how much effort is put in.

According to players, this contradicts the game’s core philosophy. The Path of Exile series is built on the idea of finding stronger items, building more complex structures, and achieving the highest possible damage. The fact that a structure built with the rarest items yields “nothing” in reward is naturally disappointing.

The community is now awaiting a fix from Grinding Gear Games. While some players want the damage limit increased, others are demanding that it at least function like in the first game. Given that bosses in Path of Exile 2 can take down a player with a single hit, the view that massive damage should be compensated for is gaining increasing support.
