Intel Core Ultra 7 270HX Plus Shows Its Power
Although the Intel Core Ultra 7 270HX Plus hasn’t yet made a widespread appearance in laptops, it has already garnered attention with its initial performance results. Intel’s new processor from the Arrow Lake-HX Plus series shows strong performance not only compared to its predecessor but also against some higher-end models, according to its PassMark test scores. These results demonstrate Intel’s ability to achieve significant performance increases on the mobile platform, even with minor frequency adjustments.
Intel Core Ultra 7 270HX Plus Stands Out in PassMark Tests
According to the shared PassMark results, the Intel Core Ultra 7 270HX Plus scored 4,908 points in the single-core test and 56,088 points in the multi-core test. These values represent a significant increase compared to the Core Ultra 7 265HX, which has the same core and thread configuration. The new processor offers approximately 8% higher performance in single-core and approximately 15% higher performance in multi-core.
The reason this difference is noteworthy is that the technical differences between the two processors don’t seem huge on paper. The Core Ultra 7 270HX Plus still uses a 20-core, 20-thread configuration. There’s only a 100MHz increase in P-core turbo frequency. Nevertheless, the jump seen in PassMark results suggests Intel may have reaped significant benefits from its die-to-die frequency improvements.
What’s more interesting is the processor’s position against the Core Ultra 9 275HX. Under normal circumstances, the Ultra 9 model, with its more cores, higher frequencies, and larger cache, should have an advantage. However, in the test results, the Core Ultra 7 270HX Plus establishes a small but clear superiority in both single-core and multi-core performance.
This table shows that the Core Ultra 7 270HX Plus is more than just an updated version of its predecessor; it’s becoming an option that approaches high-end mobile processors. In fact, the results show that the new processor comes closer to the flagship Core Ultra 9 285HX model than expected. Of course, PassMark alone isn’t the ultimate performance benchmark, and cooling designs in laptops can alter the results. Nevertheless, the initial data clearly shows that Intel has raised the performance bar with its new HX Plus series.
