Is WWE Star Cody Rhodes Joining the X-Men Roster?

As preparations continue for Marvel Studios’ new X-Men film, scheduled for release in 2028, Cody Rhodes’ name has begun to be mentioned among possible cast members. Rhodes, who recently announced a visit to Marvel Studios’ headquarters in Burbank, subsequently used the iconic theme music from X-Men ’97 in an Instagram story. The lack of a clear context for this post was enough for fans to theorize about a possible Marvel role.

The Cody Rhodes Claim for the X-Men Cast is Strengthening

Cody Rhodes’ post alone doesn’t signify a casting choice, but the timing is noteworthy. With filming for the new X-Men movie expected to begin later this year, Rhodes’ visit to Marvel Studios and his subsequent sharing of the X-Men ’97 theme strengthens the idea that the two events may be connected.

Rhodes’s familiarity with acting is one detail that supports this possibility. Besides his WWE career, Rhodes played Derek Sampson in The CW series Arrow and also appeared in The Naked Gun. He will also be appearing as Guile in the Street Fighter adaptation, which will be released in September.

However, it’s too early to conclude that Rhodes will definitely play a mutant in the film. It’s possible he took on a voice role in later seasons of X-Men ’97 or simply used the theme music because he’s a fan of the series. There has been no official statement from Marvel Studios or Rhodes regarding casting.

The current cast of the new X-Men film includes Kit Connor as Scott Summers, Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Christopher Abbott as Charles Xavier, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, and Maya Boyd as Storm. Samara Weaving is expected to play Emma Frost, and Adam Driver is expected to play Nathaniel Milbury, who is connected to Mister Sinister. While the film is scheduled for release on May 5, 2028, whether Cody Rhodes will actually join the cast remains a rumor for now.
