Machine Party has Managed to Attract the Attention of Steam Players
Machine Party has made a strong debut on Steam, combining fun party games with a dark and brutal horror sensibility. Developed by Mike Klubnika, creator of Buckshot Roulette, and GDeavid, the game transforms an innocent game night with friends into a full-blown survival battle within minutes. Initial player reviews indicate that this bizarre mix has resonated well.
Machine Party Receives Very Positive Reviews on Steam
Released on July 30th, Machine Party achieved an 89% “very positive” user rating on Steam within its first few days. Receiving over 800 reviews in a short time, the game peaked at approximately 6,000 concurrent players. While these numbers may seem small compared to major titles, it’s a very promising start for an independent, low-budget party game.
The game pits groups of two to four players against each other in bizarre mini-games with deadly consequences. In one level, players solve puzzles to avoid being shot by a machine gun falling from the ceiling, while in another, they’re forced at gunpoint to eat peas from a plate. In short, it’s a pretty crazy structure that combines the competitive spirit of Mario Party with the disturbing world of the Saw films.
Friends can sabotage each other, customizable test subjects, and industrial music by Alex Peipman complete the experience. Currently, only online multiplayer is supported, but local co-op is planned to be added in August. Players particularly praise the funny moments that arise when playing with friends and the bizarre tension that the violence adds to the game.
Machine Party normally retails for $7.99, but it can be purchased for $6.79 with a 15% launch discount valid until August 13th. The community has already started requesting things like a random order of mini-games and more levels. The developers haven’t confirmed these requests yet, but the local multiplayer update suggests the game will continue to be supported after launch.
