New Dune Game Will be Announced at Gamescom
The new Dune game Dune: Awakening will take place at the upcoming Gamescom event. While this information was previously confirmed in the game’s first Communient Signal (the game’s version of a community update/blog post/newsletter), some additional details about the game’s presence were shared by Geoff Keighley. “Dune Awakening is coming to [Gamescom.] Opening Night Live on Tuesday, August 20th,” Keighley announced via X (formerly Twitter). The announcement concludes with a reminder for viewers to tune in for a wider look at the game, which will go live at 20:00 PT.
Funcom’s Preparations for the New Dune Game
The Funcom developers also spoke lightly about Gamescom, among other events they’ve attended recently: “The past few months have been busy for us at Arrakis, with the cinematic reveal trailer, the new Dune: Awakening Direct and our visit to Twitchcon Rotterdam. There’s a lot going on and this is just the beginning. Be sure to keep an eye out for Gamescom where we’ll be showing more gameplay!”
The Funcom team also revealed what those looking forward to the game can expect in the future: “Each month we’ll chat with you directly and maybe even bring in some developers to share some spicy gameplay details. In Roundup, we’ll summarize all the major Dune developments: Awakening, we’ll recap all the highlights of the past month, show off some great game art and sounds in Asset Highlights, and highlight your fan creations in Community Creations. You can even get your questions answered in our Questions from the Community section by sending us your questions with the hashtag #DuneAwakeningCommunity. And to wrap things up, we leave you with some parting words and a little something to get you involved in the next issue!”
