New Rumors are Circulating About Rust 2

Rumors about Rust 2 have been circulating intermittently for a while now, but this time the situation is a bit different. A screenshot of a Steam page shared by players has increased the seriousness of the matter. On the other hand, the lack of clear confirmation makes this development even more interesting. So, on one hand, there’s a feeling that “it could be true,” while on the other hand, there are those who think it could be some kind of marketing ploy.

The Rust 2 Claim Remains a Mystery

Rust 2, thought to be a sequel to Rust, came to the forefront with a screenshot of a Steam page shared on Reddit. The page only contains the game’s name and the “free-to-play” tag, with no other details. Moreover, the fact that this page does not appear in normal searches and can only be accessed via a direct link further increases suspicions.

Another detail that makes the situation interesting is the warning on SteamDB. The listing being marked as “suspicious” raises the possibility that it could be a fake or forgery page. In other words, it’s unclear whether what’s circulating is actually a new game or a complete misdirection.

Indirect comments from the development team have further complicated matters. Alistair McFarlane, a prominent figure in Facepunch, made brief and vague statements that neither fully confirm nor completely deny the rumors. This strengthens the idea within the community that it “might be deliberately hidden.”

Given that Rust still has a very active player base, a potential sequel would be a major breakthrough. Especially if the free-to-play label is accurate, there’s talk of a different model being involved. For now, the only thing certain is that players are paying close attention to this.
