Nintendo Delays Zelda Movie

It looks like Zelda fans will have to wait a little longer for the live-action movie they’ve been eagerly waiting for. Nintendo announced that it has postponed the Nintendo Zelda movie and announced a new release date of May 7, 2027. According to the original plans, the movie was supposed to be released on March 26, 2027, but this date has been moved up by about six weeks.

Zelda Movie Postponed

The news of the delay was shared by Nintendo’s legendary name Shigeru Miyamoto in a short statement on social media. Miyamoto stated that they made the decision to postpone for “production reasons” and said, “We will evaluate this extra time to make the movie the best it can be. Thank you for your understanding.” This statement created mixed feelings among fans, both disappointment and quality expectation.

Nintendo’s Zelda movie was first announced in November 2023, and in March 2024, the release date was announced as March 26, 2027 via the “Nintendo Today” app. However, the studio has still not shared clear information about the story or cast of the movie. It is not clear which Zelda game the project will be inspired by or who will play Link and Zelda.

On the other hand, it was rumored behind the scenes that Euphoria star Hunter Schafer was considered for the Zelda character. However, there are rumors that Schafer is also being considered for a major Marvel role. This shows that the cast is not yet fully formed.

Nintendo’s new Zelda movie comes after The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which was released last year and achieved great success. The Mario movie broke box office records among video game adaptations, and preparations for the sequel have begun. Time will tell how successful Zelda’s cinematic journey will be, but for now, audiences will just have to be patient.
