NVIDIA RTX PRO 5500 Introduced with Blackwell 84 GB GDDR7 Memory
The NVIDIA RTX PRO 5500 Blackwell has emerged as the company’s new graphics card for professional workstations. Positioned between the RTX PRO 5000 and PRO 6000, the model specifically targets AI, 3D printing, and professional workloads that require high memory. NVIDIA lists the card with a “coming soon” label, but pricing and some technical details are still not finalized.
NVIDIA RTX PRO 5500 Blackwell Offers 84 GB GDDR7 Memory
At the heart of the card is a trimmed-down GB202 GPU. With 21,760 CUDA cores and 170 SMs, the architecture is on par with the GeForce RTX 5090 in terms of core count. The real difference lies in the professional side; the card features a full 84 GB of ECC-enabled GDDR7 memory, reaching a bandwidth of approximately 1.4 TB/s.
This memory capacity can be quite significant, especially for users running local LLM. The card can also be split into two separate 42GB isolated GPU instances thanks to MIG support. This means it’s possible to use a single card for two independent workloads. This feature can provide a significant advantage in professional systems.
In terms of connectivity, there are four DisplayPort 2.1b outputs and a PCIe 5.0 x16 interface. The card also comes with three NVENC encoders and three NVDEC decoders. In terms of cooling, in addition to active air-cooled models, liquid cooling support will also be offered via the RXM form factor.
Power consumption, however, is somewhat alarming: the NVIDIA RTX PRO 5500 can reach up to 600W of Blackwell power. This is on par with the flagship PRO 6000. Official pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but based on current market conditions, a price tag of around $10,000 is being discussed. However, NVIDIA is still listing these specifications as preliminary information, so some details may change in the final version.
