OneXPlayer Apex Air Introduced: Here Are Its Features
OneXPlayer has quietly launched the Apex Air, which it showed off weeks ago, on its official store. The new Intel-based handheld console is positioned against strong competitors such as the Legion Go 2, Xbox Ally X, and ROG Ally X20. Currently, only a single configuration with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD is offered, priced at $1,839.
OneXPlayer Apex Air Comes with Powerful Hardware
At the heart of the Apex Air is the Intel Arc G3 Extreme. In terms of storage, it features a mini SSD slot alongside the standard SSD, allowing for up to 2TB of additional storage. The device also offers microSD card support, allowing for further capacity expansion up to 2TB.
One of the model’s most distinctive features is its external battery system. The Apex Air can be used with a removable 85 Wh battery. This allows gamers carrying a spare battery to continue playing even when they can’t access a power outlet. However, this significantly increases the weight; the device weighs 699 grams without the battery, but reaches approximately 1,079 grams with the battery installed.
On the display side, there’s an 8-inch panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate. The cooling system is dual-fan, and it also offers a 2280 PCIe M.2 slot for storage. The Intel version lacks a DC power connector, but it offers more up-to-date options in terms of connectivity, including Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 support, compared to the AMD-based Apex model.
The OneXPlayer Apex Air’s price of $1,839 doesn’t make it an accessible model. The MSI Claw 8 EX AI+, which uses the same Intel Arc G3 Extreme hardware, had a launch price of $1,799. Although it tries to stand out with its removable battery, ample storage options, and robust connectivity features, its high price and weight exceeding one kilogram (including the battery) will be significant factors in the purchasing decision.
