Callina Liang Ate 12 Eggs a Day for the Street Fighter Movie
Callina Liang, who plays Chun-Li in the new Street Fighter movie, has meticulously studied the games and undergone a significant physical transformation to accurately portray the character’s fighting style. Liang explained that to practice Chun-Li’s moves, she downloaded different versions of the Street Fighter games to her PS5, recorded the attacks in slow motion, and then analyzed them individually.
Calina Liang Underwent an Intensive Preparation Process for the Role of Chun-Li
To bring Chun-Li’s kick-based fighting style to the screen, Liang’s training program was extremely rigorous. The actress stated that she practiced Taekwondo, Muay Thai, and Wushu, and trained for approximately two hours a day. In addition, special exercises to strengthen her legs were a significant part of her program.
The physical transformation wasn’t limited to training alone. Liang revealed that she completely changed her diet during her muscle-building phase, eating 12 eggs a day. She also stated that she had to eat a meal approximately every two hours, making this intense diet quite challenging at times.
According to the actress, this preparation process yielded the desired results. By the end of filming, she had grown approximately 6.5 centimeters in the circumference of both thighs, demonstrating that she seriously considered the transformation required for the role to capture Chun-Li’s physique.
Calina Liang will be joined by a large cast familiar with the fighting world in the new Street Fighter film. Roman Reigns will play Akuma, 50 Cent will play Balrog, Jason Momoa will play Blanka, and Cody Rhodes will play Guile. The film, set to be released in October, will also feature some well-known figures from the fighting game community in short surprise appearances.
