Rift of the NecroDancer PC Release Date Announced
Previously scheduled for release in late 2024, the game has been delayed as the development team needed more time to maintain healthy working conditions. “In order to release in 2024, we had to put in some serious overtime and compromise on some features,” the team said in a new blog post. We believe in a sustainable working order as a team.”
Rift of the NecroDancer Steam and Console Versions Separated
With this postponement, Brace Yourself Games has separated the Steam and console releases. So February 5, 2025 will only be valid for the PC version. No clear date has been given for other platforms yet.
The studio added that many improvements and enhancements have been made to the game during this time. These include:
- “Impossible” difficulty level (not impossible, just very difficult)
- Arrangements to facilitate rhythm reading
- Fine-tuning of various modes and challenges
- Boss battles and story elements revamped
- Special music instruments
and more. Much of this feedback was brought to life thanks to comments from the game’s free demo.
Rift of the NecroDancer is the sequel to Crypt of the NecroDancer, combining music and dungeon exploration. In this game, however, series protagonist Cadence appears in a more traditional rhythm game format.
The game was first announced in 2022. It has been eagerly awaited by players ever since. The free demo also gives players a glimpse of the gameplay.
Although the news of the postponement is disappointing, it is admirable that the development team prioritizes the welfare of its employees and asks for time to deliver a quality game.
