Roco Kingdom: World Will Have It’s First Major Appearance at Gamescom

Tencent’s Roco Kingdom brand, which it has been growing in the Chinese market since 2010, has transitioned to an open-world experience with Roco Kingdom: World. Now, it has been announced that the game will be featured at Gamescom 2026 with a playable English demo. This move strengthens expectations that the series may be opening up to a wider international audience for the first time.

Roco Kingdom: World combines the series’ creature-gathering structure with open-world exploration. Players can explore different regions, interact with creatures, and participate in turn-based battles. This structure makes the game a familiar yet different alternative, especially for players who enjoy Pokémon-like experiences.

The game’s performance in China is also noteworthy. Roco Kingdom: World quickly climbed the iOS game charts after its release and garnered a large player base. With over 430,000 reviews on the App Store, the game has an average rating of 4.2 out of 5.

However, player reviews aren’t entirely positive. While the nostalgia, creature designs, and easy exploration were praised in the early days, subsequent updates drew criticism for bugs, balance changes, and repetitive endgame content. On TapTap, the game has a rating of 7.3 based on over 70,000 reviews.

The English demo to be presented at Gamescom is one of the strongest indications that Tencent is seriously considering the Western market for Roco Kingdom: World. A global release date hasn’t been announced yet, but if this presentation is successful, expanding the series beyond China could become a much more realistic possibility.
