[Rumor] The First Images of Half-Life 3 May Have Surfaced

Half-Life 3 has remained one of the most anticipated games in the gaming world for years. Recently, rumors of Valve working on a project codenamed Project HLX have resurfaced, and now some alleged screenshots from the game have sparked controversy. Whether the shared images are genuine is unknown, but curiosity within the community has increased considerably.

Half-Life 3 Images Spark Community Controversy

According to claims, the Half-Life 3 images were briefly shared on a Discord server allegedly linked to Gabe Follower. A Reddit user claimed the images were quickly deleted, but two were saved. The screenshots allegedly show a wooded area, a character resembling Gordon Freeman, another figure thought to be Eli Vance, and a glowing blue orb in the background.

Despite this, a significant number of players are cautious about the authenticity of the visuals. Some users point out that details like clouds, lighting, and vegetation resemble those in Unreal Engine 5 productions. This increases suspicion, as Valve is expected to likely use the Source 2 engine for a potential new Half-Life game. The weapon model, Gordon’s hands, and the overall appearance of the characters were also deemed unnatural in some comments.

However, there are also those who don’t consider the visuals entirely fake. Low-detail models, temporary animations, and incomplete environmental designs can be seen in early development builds. Therefore, some players think the images may have been taken from a raw test build. It is also claimed that the words HLX and June 4, 2026 can be selected in the text said to be in the lower left corner of one of the screenshots.

For now, it is not possible to confirm these claims. Until an official statement is made by Valve, it will remain unclear whether the Half-Life 3 visuals are real or a well-crafted fake. Nevertheless, the Project HLX rumors and these new screenshots seem to have reignited the excitement of players for the long-awaited return of the series.
