Saints Row 2 PC Version Completed After 17 Years
Saints Row 2 has been one of those games for PC players that has been both beloved and somewhat incomplete for years. This special title, which struggled with technical issues at launch and lacked some content from the console versions, is now back in the spotlight thanks to fan-made works. After many years, the PC version of Saints Row 2 is finally getting its missing DLC content, bringing it closer to a more complete experience.
Saints Row 2 PC Version Completed with Fan Work
The PC port of Saints Row 2 has been plagued by numerous problems since its release. Broken cutscenes, invisible characters, audio errors, resolution problems, and general performance issues prevented the game from fully realizing its potential. In fact, it still offered the beloved, chaotic, and fun Saints Row experience; however, PC players found it much harder to achieve that enjoyment compared to the console version.
In 2019, Volition announced that they had found the missing source code and were working to make the game run more smoothly on modern systems. This process included plans for Steam matchmaking support instead of GameSpy, missing DLC content, and various bug fixes. However, the death of community manager Mike “IdolNinja” Watson, who played a key role in the project, and the subsequent closure of Volition, left the future of official work uncertain.
Fortunately, the Saints Row community didn’t completely close the file. The modding team working on Juiced Patch stepped in to bring the console-exclusive The Unkut Pack, Corporate Warfare, and Ultor Exposed content to PC. These packs offer new cosmetic options, Dexterity-focused missions, and expanded post-final content for PC players. While the focus is currently on single-player content, it’s indicated that multiplayer maps may be added in the future.
This development shouldn’t be seen simply as adding a few features to an old game. The PC version of Saints Row 2 was remembered for years for its problematic state, forcing many players to experience this classic incompletely. Thanks to the fans’ efforts, the game is getting a little closer to the form it deserves after 17 years. Even though Volition can no longer continue, the community continues to embrace the legacy of Saints Row 2.
