The Silent Hill series will now be released every year

Silent Hill, which seemed almost completely shelved for years, has recently made an unexpected comeback. Remembered only for P.T. from 2012 to 2023, the series has once again taken center stage in the gaming world with Silent Hill: Ascension, Silent Hill 2 Remake, and Silent Hill f. Now, it’s becoming clear that this return isn’t temporary. Recent statements from Konami suggest that Silent Hill may now regularly release a new game every year.

Annual Release Plan for Silent Hill

Famitsu, one of Japan’s most established gaming publications, interviewed numerous developers as part of its 2026 goals. Among these interviews, one of the most striking statements came from Motoi Okamoto, the producer of the Silent Hill series. Okamoto stated that with Silent Hill 2 coming out in 2024 and Silent Hill f in 2025, the series is back on track, and they aim to release approximately one Silent Hill game per year, including announced and unannounced projects.

This announcement is seen as a significant turning point for the future of the series. The phrase “unannounced projects,” in particular, suggests Konami is working on multiple Silent Hill games in the background. However, Okamoto emphasizes that this plan is not a guarantee. The possibility of delays or a year without releases cannot be completely ruled out.

Reactions within the gaming community are divided. Some worry that releasing a new Silent Hill game every year could wear down the series. On the other hand, there is a large group pleased that a long-forgotten horror series is finally receiving the attention it deserves.

The generally positive reception of Silent Hill 2 Remake and Silent Hill f has given Konami considerable confidence. The coming years will show whether Silent Hill can truly sustain this ambitious annual release plan. But one thing is clear: one of the most iconic horror series will no longer remain silent.
