The wait for Black Flag Remake will be longer

Ubisoft today released a comprehensive document sharing important information about its ongoing restructuring process. While the company’s future plans are becoming clearer with the establishment of new “Creative House” structures, some cancellations and delays mentioned in the report have particularly caught the attention of Assassin’s Creed fans. In this context, it appears that the wait for the long-awaited Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Remake will be extended.

Why Was Black Flag Remake Delayed?

According to Ubisoft’s report, the company decided to extend the development time of seven games in order to raise quality standards and create long-term value. One of these games, which has not yet been officially announced and was initially planned for release in fiscal year 2026, has been pushed back to fiscal year 2027.

The wait for Black Flag Remake will be longer

Based on industry sources and previously shared information, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Remake is considered the only project that fits this description. It was previously suggested the game could be released before the end of fiscal year 2026, or even by March. However, this statement in the report indicates that the project has been delayed by at least a few months, possibly around a year.

The exact duration of the delay is not yet clear. Given that fiscal year 2027 could begin in May or June, the game theoretically still has a chance of being released around those dates. However, there is currently no official statement from Ubisoft or Vantage Studios on this matter.

This delay is not the only negative development from Ubisoft. The same report confirms the complete cancellation of three new and unannounced IPs, as well as a mobile game. While this news is disheartening for players waiting for Black Flag Remake, considering Ubisoft’s turbulent history in recent years, it appears that a difficult period continues for the company.
