Undisputed 2 is Coming

Undisputed was released with the goal of filling a void in the large-scale boxing game market after many years. However, due to technical issues, online problems, and difficulties with strike detection, it failed to fully meet expectations. Now, the development team sees this period as a learning experience and has completely shifted its focus to a sequel.

Undisputed 2 is Being Redeveloped from Scratch

Steel City Interactive CEO Ash Habib announced that no new DLC, updates, or general improvements will be released for Undisputed. The game will remain playable in both online and offline modes, but the studio’s entire focus will now be on Undisputed 2. Habib confirmed that the new game will be developed from scratch and will use Unreal Engine.

Undisputed 2 is Coming

One of the biggest problems in the first game was the online experience. Habib took responsibility for this, admitting that some decisions made in the game’s core structure made the online side more difficult. He specifically stated that being too uncompromising regarding the movement system and the overall feel of the game made solving some problems more complicated. This statement suggests that the sequel will take a more flexible approach and be more open to player feedback.

Steel City Interactive’s recent growth is also noteworthy. The studio has reached over 100 employees, and experienced developers from various AAA studios have joined the team. This suggests that Undisputed 2 will be prepared with a stronger technical foundation and broader team support than the first game. The goal is not just to make a better boxing game, but to offer a more advanced experience in the fighting sports genre.

However, a release for Undisputed 2 shouldn’t be expected in the short term. Development has only just begun, and the game is likely to remain in the spotlight for several years. Moreover, rumors are circulating that EA might revive the Fight Night series. If this happens, Undisputed 2 could face much more serious competition in the long-empty boxing game scene when it launches.
