Unrecord developers received investment from Tencent
Unrecord, which caused quite a stir on social media with its first trailer, has passed a significant milestone in its development process. Drama Games, the studio behind the game, officially announced that it has received investment from Tencent. This move is seen as crucial for both Unrecord’s future and the studio’s growth plans.
Tencent Support Will Accelerate Unrecord’s Development Process
According to information reported by GamesIndustry.biz, Tencent acquired a minority stake in Drama Games, the publisher of Unrecord. While the percentage of the investment and financial details were not disclosed, it was specifically emphasized that the agreement focuses on accelerating the game’s development process.
Drama Studios CEO and founder Theo Hiribarne states that the agreement is more than just financial support. Hiribarne describes Tencent’s approach to the project as a partnership that is “respectful, preserves creative identity, and believes in the vision.” He says that expectations have risen significantly after the first trailer, and they believe this collaboration will elevate Unrecord to its targeted quality level.
Similar excitement is felt on the Tencent side. Mark Maslowicz, Vice President of Partnerships at Tencent Games Europe, states that despite being a small team, Drama Studios has made impressive progress on Unrecord, and this potential is worth supporting. According to Tencent, this investment will pave the way for the studio not only for Unrecord but also for future projects.
Currently, Unrecord does not have a definite release date and is being developed only for PC. However, its ranking at number 9 on the Steam wishlist shows that interest remains very high. On the other hand, the studio also received a $2.5 million seed investment from The Games Fund in September 2024.
