In a radio interview, Sophie Turner stated that the role of Lara Croft was one of the most physical jobs of her career. The actress added that she was surprised to be told that the back problem that emerged during training was permanent, but that it didn’t cause her to back out of the project. On the contrary, she stated that she learned to understand her body better and that realizing her limits would be beneficial for her in the long run. According to Turner, this role is a serious test of endurance, not only physically but also mentally.

Turner, who also appeared in action-packed scenes during the Game of Thrones era, jokingly recalled that she was usually “the one taking the beating” in that project. With Lara Croft, she says, this is the first time she’s actively fighting, attacking, and directing the action. She says this change has given her a new level of confidence in her acting.

While not many details have been shared about the tone and character interpretation of the series, it is stated that Turner’s portrayal of Lara Croft will be closer to the classic games. That is, a more athletic, agile, and adventure-oriented Croft will be seen. Despite all this intensity and health concerns, Sophie Turner clearly shows that she is ready for the physical world of Lara Croft and is fully embracing this challenge.
