A Multi-Region MMO for Pokémon is Coming
Pokémon has been experimenting with different ideas in recent years, deviating from its classic formula. The change, which began with games like Legends: Arceus and Legends: Z-A, is rumored to be taking things much further in the coming years. According to new rumors, not yet officially confirmed by Nintendo and Game Freak, the series is working on a large-scale MMORPG project encompassing multiple regions.

According to the rumors, the project isn’t entirely new. Leaks from last year, such as “Project Seed,” also suggested the development of an online Pokémon game covering multiple regions. The new claims suggest the project won’t be released soon and could even come after the next main game in the series.
Therefore, the wait for a potential MMO could be quite long. According to shared information, the game might be released not after Pokémon Winds and Waves, but after another main-generation game that follows it. If this timeline is correct, it seems the project is part of the series’ plans for several years into the future.

Sword and Shield started showing other players in real-time in certain areas, while Scarlet and Violet allowed players to roam the map with friends.
