Those Who Own The Witcher 3 on Xbox are in Luck
As The Witcher 3 prepares to return to players with a remastered version after many years, an important detail has emerged on the Xbox side. CD Projekt Red has confirmed that the Remastered version will have Xbox Play Anywhere support. Thanks to this feature, users who own the game on Xbox will be able to switch to the PC version with the same purchase and continue playing between the two platforms.
The Witcher 3 Comes with Xbox Play Anywhere Support
Thanks to Xbox Play Anywhere support, players who own The Witcher 3 on Xbox will be able to access the PC version of the game without paying extra. This feature was actually mentioned on Xbox Wire when the Remastered version was first announced, but it went unnoticed by many players because it was not included in CD Projekt Red’s own announcement.
A new post from CD Projekt Red’s Japan account has reconfirmed the support. Play Anywhere will not only allow the game to run on two platforms; it’s also expected to allow save files to be transferred between Xbox and PC. This will allow players to continue where they left off on PC, or continue from their console saves on PC.
Those considering switching to PC should be careful with modding. The PC version of The Witcher 3 has had a very large mod library for years. Trying to open a modded save file on Xbox could result in some content being lost or the save file not working at all. Existing mods may also need updating with the remastered version.
On the hardware side, don’t rely on the old system requirements. The remastered version will increase PC requirements, especially RAM. The Witcher 3 Remastered will be released on September 29th, and for Xbox owners, Play Anywhere support will be one of the best advantages, allowing them to reuse a game purchased years ago on PC.
