Family Guy’s Lost Xbox 360 Game Revealed Years Later
Family Guy has appeared on various platforms from PS2 to PS3 in the past, but it turns out there was another forgotten project on the gaming side of the series. A prototype of a Family Guy game developed by Eurocom for Xbox 360, which was never officially announced, has been made playable after 2012. Despite being an early build, the project contains some very interesting details about the direction the studio envisioned for the game.
Family Guy Xbox 360 Game Was Powered by Disney Universe Engine
The discovered prototype was actually first found in a large prototype archive in 2022, but was recently made playable. It is stated that the build dates back to June 2012 and was running on the Disney Universe game engine that Eurocom previously used. Therefore, the movement system and interface look quite similar to Disney Universe.
Despite this, the game’s content was reportedly going to have a much more mature tone. The prototype shows Peter Griffin undergoing violent tests involving dismemberment and decapitation. This suggests Eurocom may have considered taking the core gameplay structure of Disney Universe and adapting it to the humor and harsher tone of Family Guy.
The playable prototype doesn’t contain much story content. The early build focuses more on testing basic mechanics, and the project generally feels like a “Disney Universe with a Family Guy skin.” However, it’s unclear how far the game would have deviated from this structure if development had progressed.
Another interesting detail is the possibility of split-screen co-op support. The fact that Peter and Stewie are seen on screen simultaneously in the prototype suggests that two-player gameplay was planned. The reason for the game’s cancellation is still unknown. It’s possible the project was only a presentation or early concept and was never approved.
