AMD Denies Radeon RX 9070 Leaks

AMD has said that the Radeon RX 9070 RDNA 4 GPU leaks that emerged ahead of CES 2025 are not true. The company’s Gaming Division Chief Architect Frank Azor announced that early performance claims were false and that the next-generation GPUs will offer higher-than-expected raster and ray tracing (RT) performance. Azor shared the statement in an interview with PC World , adding that AMD’s delay in introducing its RDNA 4 GPUs is part of a strategy to evaluate rival NVIDIA’s moves.

Radeon RX 9070 RDNA 4 Performance Expectations

Frank Azor said that the RX 9070 XT performance leaks ahead of CES were “misleading.” Previous reports suggested that the RX 9070 XT would offer a slight performance boost over the Radeon RX 7900 GRE, or a 5% difference to the NVIDIA RTX 4080. However, Azor stated that these claims are not true and that the RX 9070 XT will perform at a much higher level.

The RX 9000 series with RDNA 4 architecture comes with significant improvements in raster and ray tracing performance. Azor stated that the RX 9070 XT will compete directly with the RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti models. He also said that the RX 9070 XT will be priced under $ 1000 and will be released with a price tag close to NVIDIA’s 5070 series.

No official information has yet been shared about the pricing of AMD’s next-generation RX 9070 XT cards. However, leaked details indicate that the card will be in the $ 500-550 range. The information that a retailer in the Philippines listed the RX 9070 XT for $ 529 indicates that the reference model may be offered for sale under $ 500. AMD’s competition with NVIDIA will continue, especially in ray tracing technology. However, AMD aims to take the lead in raster performance.

AMD is preparing to take a big step in the gaming world with its new RDNA 4 architecture. The Radeon RX 9070 XT is expected to be a strong competitor to NVIDIA in terms of performance and pricing. AMD’s strategy aims to offer more affordable and powerful cards to users while intensifying the competition. The excitement is increasing as the release date of the RDNA 4 series approaches.
