Capcom is Not Keen on Resident Evil 5 and 6 Remakes
Capcom has achieved great success with the Resident Evil remake series in recent years, but it seems the company isn’t planning to remake every game at the same pace. Following the announcement of Resident Evil: Veronica, attention naturally turned to other titles in the series. Remakes for Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 have been a long-standing expectation. However, according to new claims, these two games are not currently among Capcom’s top priorities.
Capcom Hasn’t Yet Made a Decision on Resident Evil 5 and 6
The latest claims regarding Capcom were shared by Dusk Golem, known for Resident Evil leaks. Speaking on ResetEra, the insider suggested that the company currently doesn’t have a clear roadmap for Resident Evil 5 and 6 remakes. According to Dusk Golem, Capcom hasn’t even truly decided to remake these games yet.
This statement is particularly significant for those who believe the Resident Evil remake series follows a long-term plan. Recently, there have been discussions about Resident Evil: Veronica and the rumored Resident Evil Zero remake potentially being connected to Resident Evil Requiem. However, Dusk Golem claims Capcom isn’t pursuing a grand “master plan” that links all remake projects to Requiem.
According to Insider, the company isn’t developing Resident Evil 5 and 6 remakes to restructure the series or set the stage for Requiem. More accurately, there isn’t currently such a development process in place. It’s claimed that Capcom’s franchise planning is more focused on multi-year periods rather than a massive, long-term strategy encompassing all games, and that they periodically reassess their course.
This doesn’t mean Resident Evil 5 and 6 remakes are entirely impossible. After all, the Resident Evil brand is still very strong for Capcom, and the remake series is commercially successful. However, at least for now, the company’s focus seems to be on other projects. Resident Evil 5 and 6, due to their more action-oriented nature, may require more difficult decisions regarding remakes. Therefore, it’s not surprising that Capcom isn’t rushing things.
