Ciri in The Witcher 4 Will be More Fluid and Realistic
While official information about The Witcher 4 is still limited, podcast statements and leaks from the developers are gradually clarifying the picture. Following the Geralt-centric trilogy, it was already known that Ciri would be the main character this time. However, it seems the changes will be felt not only in terms of character but also in the technical and design aspects. CD Projekt Red is investing heavily in fluidity and realism in the new game.
Ciri is Being Redesigned for The Witcher 4
According to information shared on the AnsweRED Podcast, Ciri’s movement system is being completely revamped. With the switch to Unreal Engine 5, more than 80 separate animations are being used for basic movements. The aim is to eliminate the “heavy” and clunky feel that was sometimes criticized in The Witcher 3. The goal is for Ciri to appear more responsive, more substantial, and more natural.
In addition, the magic system is also changing. According to leaks, Ciri will now be able to cast spells while moving. Instead of the static animations of previous games, a structure that doesn’t disrupt the flow is being designed. Features that enhance vertical exploration, such as a dedicated jump button and underwater swimming, will also be added. This suggests the world will be more interactive and layered.
Combat is also undergoing a comprehensive overhaul. Mocap data is planned to be sped up by 20% to create a “sharper” feel. Separate animation teams are working on boss battles. The involvement of experienced designers from Horizon and God of War clearly demonstrates the importance given to the combat system.
CD Projekt Red is also placing special emphasis on NPC diversity. A more dynamic open world is aimed for to avoid repetitive facial models and artificial feel. The Witcher 4 is not expected to be released before 2027, but there are rumors of a more concrete presentation at Unreal Fest 2026. It seems that with Ciri, the series is preparing to open a new chapter in both technical and design terms.
