Epic Games Launcher Can Make Random Sounds from Your Computer

The Epic Games Launcher has started emitting various notification sounds in the background that users couldn’t understand. Many players, unable to figure out which app was sending these short, Discord-like alerts, shared the issue on social media, and the real reason soon became clear. Apparently, some social features within the launcher are triggering audible alerts much more frequently than they should.

Epic Games Launcher Sounds Notifications Too Frequently

According to shared information, these sounds occur when a player joins or leaves a party, a new message arrives, the party membership status changes, and the push-to-talk feature is activated. Since many of these events happen frequently in the background, users may hear random notification sounds throughout the day.

The main point of confusion is that Epic hasn’t given users a clear explanation about these new sounds. Because of this, some players thought for weeks that the sound was coming from Discord, Windows, or another application. The fact that the Epic Games Launcher was running in the background also made it harder to pinpoint the source.

It’s stated that the sound files can be deleted from the launcher folders, but this may not be a permanent solution. The files can be re-uploaded when the application receives a new update. Therefore, the real solution users want is a separate option in the settings to completely turn off notification sounds.

Epic is also aware of the problem. The Fortnite Status account confirmed that party notification sounds were triggered more frequently than planned and that adjustments were being made to the launcher. The update is expected to limit which events trigger the sound. However, players also want an option to turn off all sounds with a single button.
