The PlayStation Version of PHYSINT is Stuck in Limbo

PHYSINT continues development with Xbox support after PlayStation withdrew from the project, but whether the game will come to Sony consoles in the future remains uncertain. Hideo Kojima was asked about the possibility of a direct PlayStation release, and the renowned developer stated that the decision is not in his hands. According to Kojima, the final say on which platforms the game will be released on will rest with Xbox.

Xbox Will Decide on the PlayStation Release of PHYSINT

Kojima explicitly states that he does not know at this stage whether PHYSINT will be released on PlayStation. Recalling that Xbox has previously stated its desire to reach as many players as possible with its games, the developer says that he does not know what the current plan is and that Microsoft will make an announcement in the future.

The key point here is that Xbox has recently made some changes to its platform strategy. While the company adopted a more open approach to console exclusives some time ago, it’s indicated that under the new management, some titles may be repositioned as permanent console exclusives. Therefore, the possibility of PHYSINT coming to PlayStation remains completely open for now.

Kojima’s goals regarding the Xbox partnership are not limited to the game itself. The developer believes that new brands could expand into different areas such as film, music, merchandise, and even augmented reality in the future. Citing Nintendo’s approach with Mario and Zelda as an example, Kojima says that Xbox management has a similar vision.

In short, a PlayStation version of PHYSINT has neither been confirmed nor completely denied. Kojima explicitly states that Xbox is the decision-maker. Now, all eyes are on Microsoft’s upcoming official announcements regarding the game’s platform plans.
