Escape From Tarkov Steam Release Draws Backlash

Escape from Tarkov, which has been in closed beta development for many years, has finally arrived on the Steam store. However, the “big launch” players had been waiting for has been a complete flop. From day one, logging in, connection errors, and server crashes have severely strained Battlestate Games’ relationship with the community.

Tarkov Receives “Mostly Negative” Reviews on Steam

Since its release on Steam, the game has received over 7,000 reviews, only 34 percent of which are positive. Players are complaining about issues like “unable to connect to the server” and “unable to create an account.” The development team acknowledged “stability issues with authorization and server services,” apologized, and announced that the technical team is “actively working on a solution.”

However, this explanation didn’t calm the anger. Some players described their experience as a “cosmic punishment,” while another user humorously commented, “Escape from Maintenance: Mental Warfare 10/10, because I lost my sanity even at the login screen.”

Tarkov developer Battlestate Games has previously clashed with the community. The inclusion of a PvE mode exclusive to “Unheard Edition” owners in a €300 package in 2024 sparked widespread backlash, forcing the company to apologize.

With this latest release, players have begun to seriously question Battlestate’s technical infrastructure. Many users in Steam comments wrote, “We’re more likely trying to get the game to work than playing it,” while others mocked the fact that the game is still in beta.

It seems Escape from Tarkov’s journey on Steam has become more of a test of patience than a survival experience for players. A swift fix for these bugs seems to be the only hope Battlestate has of rebuilding its reputation.
