EXODUS Announced Release Date at Gamescom 2026
EXODUS, developed by Archetype Entertainment under the Wizards of the Coast umbrella, was shown with a new trailer during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026. This science fiction-themed single-player action RPG explores the future of humanity 40,000 years in the future. Players will journey to different planets as Jun Aslan, fight against advanced beings called Celestials, and face the consequences of time dilation in the story.
EXODUS Release Date: April 7, 2027
The most important announcement of the Gamescom presentation was the game’s release date. It was announced that EXODUS will be released on April 7, 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The PC version will be available on Steam and Epic Games Store. This confirms the previously limited release window of early 2027 for the first time.
The new trailer also features more prominently in Salt, one of Jun’s companions. Salt, an awakened octopus wielding a mechanical combat vehicle, will be a key member of the team, possessing long-range attacks, rapid evasive maneuvers, and ink-like smoke abilities that obscure enemy vision. The fact that Jun and Salt, despite coming from different backgrounds, fight together for the same cause highlights the story’s emphasis on character relationships.
EXODUS won’t be solely based on combat. Players will explore ancient Celestial relics, develop relationships with different companions, and shape Jun’s personality through their choices. Two different moral orientations, Paladin and Immortal, will also influence the outcomes of decisions. Furthermore, due to near-light speed travel, the passage of time means that the effects of some decisions can manifest even generations later.
The presence of names from Archetype Entertainment, who have previously worked on RPGs like Mass Effect and Dragon Age, has long fueled high expectations for EXODUS. The Gamescom 2026 presentation once again showed that the game will not only be a grand sci-fi adventure, but also a story-driven RPG where choices and character relationships carry significant weight.
