Gamescom 2026: All Announcements

This list of all Gamescom 2026 announcements will be a good guide for those who want to follow one of the busiest gaming events of the year. Gamescom 2026, held in Cologne, Germany, takes place between August 26-30. The grand opening show, Opening Night Live, airs on August 25th with Geoff Keighley as host. This year’s program is expected to include world premieres, new trailers, gameplay demonstrations, and release date announcements.

Gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live Begins

Gamescom 2026 officially opens on August 26th, but as always, the gaming world’s attention is focused on the Opening Night Live show the day before. The event started on August 25th at 8 PM CEST. The show is expected to last about two hours.

Previously announced games for this year’s Opening Night Live include The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past, Final Fantasy VII Revelation, Gears of War: E-Day, Metro 2039, and Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons. In addition, surprise announcements and independent titles are expected to take center stage.

Gamescom 2026: All Announcements

Nodus Fall

Hoyoverse returns to Gamescom 2026 with a darker and more magnificent fantasy action game. Nodus Fall, with its first images reminiscent of the Elden Ring, stands out with its colossal creatures, gloomy world, and large-scale boss battles. The trailer shows a bizarre fantasy landscape, a giant dragon, a massive being resembling a fire god, and characters riding on horseback.

The game is presented as an original co-op action game where players take on the roles of characters called Weavers. Teams of three or four players must fight against mythological beings. Large swords, bows, powerful abilities, and healing and resurrection mechanics were among the details that stood out in the trailer. For now, it’s unclear whether the game will be an MMO, a shared-world game, or a quest-based co-op boss hunt; however, the scale and creature designs look quite impressive.

Rainbow Six Tactics

At Gamescom 2026, Ubisoft brought the Rainbow Six brand to the turn-based tactics genre. At first glance, Rainbow Six Tactics appears to be an XCOM-style interpretation of Rainbow Six. Players assemble a team of elite operators, plan missions in the battle room, and engage in tactical combat from an isometric camera perspective.

The presentation showed the game to have a serious tone. While the characters appear somewhat flat at first glance, the flow of action and tactical structure are not bad. It was also noted that the camera approaches a third-person view in some scenes; whether this is part of the gameplay or just for cinematic replays is unclear for now. Rainbow Six Tactics will be released in 2027.

Gears of War: E-Day

A new presentation for Gears of War: E-Day was shown at Gamescom 2026. Clearly, the visuals fully embody the spirit of Gears of War: bigger, brighter, more muscular, and, as always, a very serious tone. Marcus Fenix is still grumbling a lot, uttering sentences that convey the weight of war, and the game doesn’t stray from the series’ tough action identity.

The presentation emphasized that this time, more will be revealed about the game’s villainous side. Whether it will be as iconic as General Raam is another matter, but E-Day’s return to the beginning of the Locust invasion provides a strong foundation for the series’ story. Gears of War: E-Day will be released on October 6th.

Ananta

NetEase showcased its new open-world game, Ananta, at Gamescom 2026. The free-to-play title will not be limited to PC or consoles; it will also be coming to mobile platforms. This indicates that Anata is a large-scale project aiming for a wide audience.

Initial information suggests the game will offer a city-focused, fast-paced, and flashy open-world experience. It’s also clear that NetEase has invested significant resources in this game. Its placement at the Gamescom presentation suggests that Anata is not just a side project for the company, but could be one of the major productions expected to generate more discussion in the coming period.

Silent Hill: Townfall

A short but noteworthy preview of Silent Hill: Townfall was shown at Gamescom 2026. Set against a foggy, gloomy Scottish atmosphere, the game leans towards the heavier and more disturbing side of the Silent Hill brand. The trailer wasn’t very long, but its suffocating atmosphere and dark tone received a strong reaction from the audience.

The cast, including Terry O’Quinn and Jordan Adepo, was also highlighted during the preview. The most important piece of information about Townfall was its release date: September 24th. So Silent Hill fans won’t have to wait long to dive into this dark adventure.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy

A short segment of Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy was also shown during Gamescom 2026. Because the presentation was very quick, a large and detailed gameplay explanation wasn’t given. However, the title “A Plague Tale” is enough to attract the attention of players who especially enjoy story-driven, atmospheric games.

The short clip shown suggests the game will still draw from its dark, emotional, and historical atmosphere. For now, not many details have been given regarding new mechanics, characters, or story connections. When more comprehensive information becomes available, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy will be one of the titles deserving of further expansion among the Gamescom 2026 announcements.

Sea of Remnants

Sea of Remnants, shown at Gamescom 2026, emerged as a uniquely styled game with a pirate-themed puppet aesthetic. At first glance, it’s clear it’s trying to create a stylish world; the seafaring, pirate atmosphere, and puppet-like character designs give the game its own distinct identity.

However, the shown clip doesn’t seem to have had the same impact on everyone. While the visual style is interesting, it’s not yet clear how strong the gameplay is. Sea of Remnants currently seems to be one of those games that sparks curiosity with its atmosphere but needs to prove its true strength in longer gameplay demonstrations.

Crimson Desert: Enhanced

Crimson Desert: Enhanced was announced during Gamescom 2026 and is now available immediately. This version brings together all updates released for the game to date. This means it offers a more comprehensive and expanded package for players new to Crimson Desert.

The Enhanced version also includes new story moments and expanded voice acting content. This detail is particularly important for players who want to connect more deeply with the game’s world and characters. The fact that Crimson Desert: Enhanced is currently playable makes the announcement a direct “try it now” experience.

Tides of Annihilation

Tides of Annihilation, drawing inspiration from Arthurian legends but set in a modern fantasy world, was showcased again at Gamescom 2026. Instead of directly confining the classic chivalry and mythology atmosphere to a medieval setting, the game seems to be transporting it to a different, contemporary, and stylized universe.

The presentation also confirmed that Angela Sant’Albano will be the new voice of Gwendolyn. Sant’Albano takes over the role from Jennifer English, who left for personal reasons. This change could be significant, especially considering the character’s weight in the story. Tides of Annihilation stands out as one of the ambitious projects attempting to blend mythological roots with modern action.

Lofsong

At Gamescom 2026, Lofsong, a new indie game from Unrelated Games based in Turin, Italy, was also shown. At first glance, it appears to be one of the smaller but more artistic productions of the event. The game immediately catches the eye with its predominantly black-and-white visual language and simple atmosphere.

The trailer showed a red character progressing through a sand-covered world shrouded in shades of gray. The character’s movement of the sand around him and the minimalist world presented with an isometric camera angle added a poetic atmosphere reminiscent of Monument Valley. Lofsong doesn’t have a release date yet; however, the game can be added to wishlists.

Mega Man

Gamescom 2026 also featured a short segment for Mega Man. It was stated that a new 2D platform game is on the way. This news is naturally significant for fans of the classic Mega Man formula, as the series has long been associated with anticipation for a new and powerful main game.

Additionally, a Mega Man-themed costume or skin was briefly shown for Pragmata. This short clip had a more unsettling feel than expected. Considering Pragmata’s already strange and mysterious atmosphere, it remains to be seen how the Mega Man touch will fit in.

Rayman Legends Untold

Ubisoft also unveiled Rayman Legends Untold at Gamescom 2026. The presentation looked quite colorful and energetic. Macarena playing in the background added a strange but fun atmosphere to the show. Rayman’s fast-paced, cheerful, and fluid platforming style is evident in the first glimpses.

The release date for Rayman Legends Untold has also been announced: October 1st. This announcement is very welcome news for players who have been waiting a long time for a more visible return of Rayman. The visuals already look very stylish.

PUBG: Ded.Net

At Gamescom 2026, PUBG: Ded.Net, which appears to be a new spin-off from the PUBG universe, was announced. The presentation opened with a rural town reminiscent of Twin Peaks, but things quickly spiraled out of control. Set in a region called Cascadia 1996, the game featured chaotic vehicle chases, intense firefights, and overly exaggerated action scenes.

The trailer highlighted bright colors, fast movements, sliding, melee attacks, and intensely interactive animations. Despite bearing the PUBG name, Ded.Net seems like a more wild and stylized action experience than the classic battle royale structure. No release date was given; however, a call to participate in a closed beta was made.

Once Human

Once Human received good news for consoles during Gamescom 2026. It was announced that the game will be available for free on consoles. Previously noted for its survival and open-world gameplay on PC, the game will thus reach a wider audience.

Once Human’s strongest point is its combination of a post-apocalyptic world, strange creatures, supernatural threats, and resource-gathering gameplay. The fact that it’s free on console makes it quite attractive for those who want to try it. It could be a good opportunity, especially for those looking for a survival game to play with friends.

Control Resonant

Remedy’s new game, Control Resonant, made a strong debut at Gamescom 2026. The first images show that it retains the reality-bending oddities and energetic third-person action we’ve come to expect from the Control universe. Weapons, supernatural powers, and the constantly changing environment seem to be at the heart of the game once again.

The presentation was quite spectacular and fast-paced. Whether this exaggerated action will maintain the mysterious tension of the Control universe is a small question mark for now. Nevertheless, the strong reaction from the audience showed that interest in the game is high. Control Resonant will be released on September 24th.

Dawnwalker

At Gamescom 2026, Dawnwalker made a comeback, and frankly, this presentation was one of the most intriguing moments of the event. The game is being developed by the former game director of The Witcher 3 and many experienced members of that team. Therefore, Dawnwalker is already being positioned not as a typical dark fantasy RPG, but as the beginning of a new series.

In the game, we will control a rather interesting character described as half-vampire, half-human, and half-witch. This structure suggests that different powers and moral choices will be prominent in both the story and gameplay. The release date for Dawnwalker has also been announced: The game will be available to players on September 3rd.

Game of Thrones: War for Westeros

Game of Thrones: War for Westeros was one of the most striking strategy games announced at Gamescom 2026. Considering Westeros’ constant war, betrayal, and power struggles, the brand’s move to the real-time strategy genre seems quite logical. The trailer showed familiar elements such as Jon Snow, Daenerys, Jaime Lannister, and dragons.

While the visuals may not seem very ambitious, the transformation of the Game of Thrones universe into a strategy game is exciting in itself. If details like inter-house wars, army management, and dragon power are handled correctly, War for Westeros could be quite appealing. The game is scheduled for release in early 2027; also, the voice acting in the presentation had a powerful tone reminiscent of Charles Dance.

Dust: Origins

Airship Syndicate unveiled their new isometric sci-fi thriller, Dust: Origins, at Gamescom 2026. The new project from the team known for Darksiders Genesis takes on a harsher atmosphere with dark spaceships, abandoned facilities, and mutated giant creatures.

The first images suggest the game is close to a twin-stick shooter but aims for more than just reflex-driven action. More tactical progression, carefully reading threats in dark corridors, and managing distance with creatures will likely be important. A release date for Dust: Origins has not yet been announced.

Exodus

Exodus, from Wizards of the Coast and Archetype Entertainment, also made its debut at Gamescom 2026 with a new presentation, and its release date has finally been revealed. This sci-fi RPG, reminiscent of Mass Effect, has long been anticipated, particularly due to the involvement of former Mass Effect developers. The concept of time expansion also seems to be one of the most striking aspects of the universe.

The presentation offered a closer look at Salt, an awakened octopus crew member. Salt was introduced as a rather interesting character who uses a mech suit in battles but lives in a tank above ground. The release date for Exodus was also confirmed: the game will be available to players on April 7, 2027.

Warlock

Warlock made its debut at Gamescom 2026 with its first gameplay trailer, bringing the Dungeons & Dragons universe to third-person action. Developed by Invoke Studios, the game stars Maggie Robertson as the renowned magician Tasha. The trailer shows Tasha forming a pact with a character named Kaatri, transferring her powers to her, and then transitioning into the game’s fantasy world.

In terms of gameplay, spells, environmental interactions, and melee combat are used together. Tasha’s teleportation, time-stopping, levitating enemies, knocking down pillars with magic, and area control with lightning strikes were noteworthy. Combinations of swords, hammers, floating daggers, and magic add variety to the action. While the vertical cut shown looks quite fluid, the depth of the combat system is somewhat unclear for now. Warlock is coming out in 2027.

1001 Threads of Mizan

At Gamescom 2026, a new fantasy action game called 1001 Threads of Mizan was shown. Inspired by the Arabian Nights, the game combines third-person action with the concept of a flying carpet. The trailer showed a team of three traveling on flying carpets, circling and fighting giant creatures.

The shown section was more of a cinematic preview, so it’s not yet clear how the carpet combat concept will work in actual gameplay. Nevertheless, the giant monsters, the fairytale-like tone with a narrator, and the idea of team combat give the game a nice identity. A release date for 1001 Threads of Mizan has not been announced; however, a demo was playable at Gamescom.

Silver Palace: House of Greed

Silver Palace: House of Greed, briefly shown at Gamescom 2026, appears to be an anime-style horror game played from a third-person perspective. The show wasn’t very long, but initial impressions highlighted the dark environments, stylized character designs, and suspenseful atmosphere.

Not many details have been given about the game yet, so the story, gameplay, and release date remain unclear. However, games that combine anime aesthetics with a horror atmosphere always generate a certain level of curiosity. Although Silver Palace: House of Greed was briefly shown at Gamescom, it could be one of the small surprises worth keeping an eye on.

Metro 2039

A new gameplay trailer for Metro 2039 was shown at Gamescom 2026. The 4A Games team, who took the stage, specifically emphasized that the game is being developed in Ukraine and under the shadow of a real war. The message, “When war knocks on our door, we make a game about the consequences,” directly set the tone of the presentation. In this respect, Metro 2039 is not only a new post-apocalyptic action game, but also carries a separate weight due to the conditions in which it is being developed.

The trailer seemed to be trying to build a larger and more dramatic narrative while maintaining the dark atmosphere of the series. The gloomy tunnels, survival tension, and the heavy consequences humanity faces after the destruction, which we have come to expect from Metro games, will likely be central again. 4A Games’ decision to continue developing the game in such an environment is truly remarkable; therefore, Metro 2039 became one of the most powerful and emotional presentations of Gamescom 2026.

Aion 2

NCSoft also took the stage at Gamescom 2026 with Aion 2. The world shown looks quite colorful, large, and spectacular. Giant creatures, underwater swimming scenes, bright effects, and skill animations that fill the screen show that the game is trying to bring back the classic MMO grandeur with a modern presentation.

The fast-paced combat system was particularly noteworthy in the presentation. If the shown tempo reflects the actual gameplay speed, Aion 2 looks like it will be a very dynamic and action-oriented MMO. The character designs are also quite ambitious and follow an anime-fantasy line. Aion 2 will be released on October 5th.

Afterworld

Paradox unveiled Afterworld, a post-apocalyptic city-building game, at Gamescom 2026. The first images strongly evoke the Mad Max vibe with a desertified America, large vehicles, and a harsh survival atmosphere. The game’s core idea is to rebuild a ruined world and construct a new empire from the ashes.

Considering Paradox’s experience in city-building and strategy, Afterworld looks quite intriguing. The emphasis on “Restore America” suggests that the game will not be just about building buildings; It suggests it could rely on broader systems like resource management, territory control, and community building. While what’s shown so far is brief, Afterworld has been one of the most noteworthy strategy announcements at Gamescom 2026.

Petit Planet

Hoyoverse presented a calmer and more charming game at Gamescom 2026. Introduced as a galactic life simulation, Petit Planet offered a sweet, peaceful, and colorful world at first glance. Seeing such a soft-toned game amidst the big action games felt like a nice breath of fresh air.

The game seems to revolve around small space-themed planets, social life, exploration, and possibly customization systems. Considering Hoyoverse’s strength in character design and visual presentation, Petit Planet could be one of those cozy, relaxing games that can be played for a long time.

Mewgenics

Mewgenics reappeared at Gamescom 2026 with news of a console release. The turn-based cat tactics game from Edmund McMillen is coming to consoles shortly after its PC release. According to the announcement, the game will be available to console players on September 8th.

Mewgenics already stands out with its bizarre humor, roguelike structure, and the idea of building a cat army. The imminent console release is good news for players who want to try the game but are waiting for the PC version. It’s certainly nice that such a strange game is reaching a wider audience.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 was briefly shown during Gamescom 2026 and released without delay. The game is available today. For those who loved the co-op focused alien hunting formula of the first game, this announcement is a direct “download and play now” option.

Since the show wasn’t very long, not many details were given about the new mechanics. However, it seems that team survival, intense waves of creatures, and weapon-focused action will again be central in the Aliens universe. It will be important to see how well the sequel addresses the shortcomings of the first game.

1666: Amsterdam

1666: Amsterdam made its debut at Gamescom 2026 with early access news. The game transforms 17th-century Amsterdam into a highly atmospheric gaming environment. Initial impressions suggest the game might be a bit rough and overly complex, but that’s precisely why it’s so interesting.

The early access version will contain approximately 10 hours of content, and best of all, it’s currently available. Amsterdam’s historic streets, diverse systems, and experimental structure make 1666: Amsterdam a project that’s hard to miss. It might be a bit jagged, but it has soul.

Showa American Story

Showa American Story, also shown at Gamescom 2026, was one of the Japanese productions that immediately caught attention with its strangeness. This third-person action game, at first glance, resembles Dead Rising with its exaggerated combos, large-scale combat, and excessively crazy tone.

The character design, the pace of the action, and the overall presentation of the game are deliberately “weird.” This sets it apart from being just another action game. A release date for Showa American Story hasn’t been given yet; however, the game can be added to wishlists.

Road Kings

Road Kings was one of the interesting simulation games that received a release date at Gamescom 2026. The game combines the classic truck simulation concept with a more arcade and mission-oriented structure. This means it’s not just about calmly driving on long roads, but also about making deliveries in dangerous conditions.

One example shown was a mission to transport materials to a wind farm in severe, storm-like weather conditions. Sliding on ice, collapsing structures, catastrophic weather, and dramatic environmental events add a different energy to the game. Road Kings will be released on March 11th.

Crazy Taxi

Sega’s Crazy Taxi reboot was shown at Gamescom 2026, focusing on its multiplayer aspect. Initial images show that it tries to maintain the fast-paced, slippery arcade feel of the series. Vehicles slide at high speeds, swerve frequently in the city, and the game clearly emphasizes tempo.

The visual detail seems a bit understated at first glance, but the sense of speed is well-placed. Crazy Taxi has always been a series built more on chaos, reflexes, and fun driving than realism. The new game tries to continue this line with a modern multiplayer structure. Crazy Taxi will be released next year.

Turok Origins

Turok Origins made its debut at Gamescom 2026 with a new presentation, but there was bad news regarding its release. The game was expected to be released this year, but with the new announcement, it has been postponed to Spring 2027. The trailer showed super-powered warriors fighting against dinosaur-like enemies who want to wipe out humanity.

At first glance, the gameplay seems close to a Destiny-like co-op action structure. Large enemies, powerful weapons, and a sense of teamwork are prominent, but what was shown doesn’t seem to have fully convinced everyone. Still, the return of the Turok brand with modern co-op action could be an interesting experiment.

Gravhounds

Announced at Gamescom 2026, Gravhounds stands out as a colorful co-op action game featuring dog-like characters. The game combines a third-person shooter structure with tower defense mechanics. Initial images highlight bright colors, large waves of enemies, and the idea of team-based defense.

The overall feel is somewhat reminiscent of Starship Troopers, with intense creature attacks. Players will likely need to actively engage in combat on the battlefield and effectively utilize defensive positions. Gravhounds is expected to be released sometime in 2026, but a specific date has not yet been announced.

Lego Skylines

Lego Skylines appears to be one of the most logical announcements from Gamescom 2026. The idea of a Lego-themed city-building game sounds natural; colorful blocks, a creative building system, and city management all come together to create a very suitable formula.

The initial preview looked bright, vibrant, and quite charming. Lego’s “build whatever you want” feeling, combined well with the city-building genre, could make Lego Skylines appealing to both children and adult players seeking relaxing city management. Details are limited for now, but the concept has a solid foundation.

Exterminnauts

Shown at Gamescom 2026, Exterminnauts stood out as a co-op shooter where you try to cleanse the world of an alien invasion. Initial footage highlighted large, exaggerated action scenes, large groups of enemies, and characters progressing in teams. The game’s name is also fitting; Exterminnauts sounds like “alien cleanup team.”

The trailer showed that it’s not just about shooting and advancing, but also about building things. This suggests the game could add systems like building defenses or preparing areas alongside pure shooter action. No release date has been given for Exterminnauts; however, the game is already on your wishlist.

Path of Exile 2

Path of Exile 2 made its debut at Gamescom 2026 with a new class showcase. At first glance, it seemed like a gladiator or knight-style character was being introduced. Heavy armor, close-combat focused attacks, and hard blows once again highlighted the action RPG aspect of the game.

The really big news, however, was the 1.0 release date. Path of Exile 2 will be released in its full version on December 11th. This date is quite significant for the game, which has been followed for a long time in early access and development. For action RPG fans, another major content update is coming before the end of the year.

Heroes of Might & Magic 3 Remake

One of the most nostalgic surprises of Gamescom 2026 was Heroes of Might & Magic 3 Remake. The classic strategy game is being remade with a much more colorful and animated visual style. The first images are truly warm, vibrant, and seem to be trying to preserve the spirit of the old game.

It’s not yet clear how many changes will be made to the gameplay. That’s the main question, of course. Touching a cult game like Heroes of Might & Magic 3 is no easy task. The visual refresh looks great, but what players are really looking forward to is preserving the classic strategy feel without sacrificing it. Release date has not yet been announced.

No Law

No Law was one of the games that stood out at Gamescom 2026 with its stylish cyberpunk world. Neon lights, a dense city atmosphere, and futuristic streets initially evoke a more compressed and action-oriented version of Cyberpunk 2077. But here, it seems to aim for a smaller, denser, and faster-paced city experience.

The game is being developed by the small Swedish team Neon Giant and will be released next year. The trailer shows exploration and combat intertwined. Players are constantly involved in fights in a dense city environment, with action at the center. The visual style already looks strong.

Cinder

NC showed its new game, Cinder City, a strange and dark-looking game, at Gamescom 2026. Set in a modern but twisted world, the game features giant multi-armed beings soaring through the sky and soldiers infiltrating a dark bunker. The initial images create a rather bizarre and disturbing atmosphere.

Not much information has been given about Cinder City yet. Exactly how the gameplay will work, what genre it will be, and what the story will focus on are unclear. However, the world design shown is intriguing. NC will need to provide more detailed information about this project in the future.

Ontos

Frictional Games unveiled its new atmospheric horror game, Ontos, at Gamescom 2026. Coming from the developer of SOMA alone raises expectations. Published by Kepler Interactive, the game’s involvement with Stellan Skarsgård seems like a strong indicator of story and performance potential.

The trailer takes place on a space station where eerie events are unfolding. A scientist with wires on his head, disturbing images filled with trapped rats, and the overall unsettling atmosphere of the station immediately caught attention. Ontos seems close to Frictional’s beloved “science fiction but gnawing horror” vein. The game is scheduled for release in 2027.

Pony Island 2: Panda Circus

Daniel Mullins, known for Inscryption, unveiled his new game, Pony Island 2: Panda Circus, at Gamescom 2026. The first images, as expected, present a bizarre, chaotic structure constantly jumping between genres. In short, the game clearly shows Daniel Mullins’ signature style from the trailer alone.

Pony Island 2: Panda Circus seems like a crazy experience that mixes different genres and is unpredictable. The trailer was quite strange but also intriguing. For those who loved the surprising nature of Inscryption, this game will definitely be on their watchlist. Pony Island 2: Panda Circus will be released next April.

Zoopunk

Shown at Gamescom 2026, Zoopunk is a fast-paced third-person action game featuring human-like animal characters. The trailer included rhinoceros, squirrel, and rabbit-like characters. Although the visual style and character designs have raised suspicions of AI use among some viewers, the Chinese development team has specifically stated that the game was created by humans.

In terms of gameplay, fast-paced movement, plenty of action, and character-focused combat are prominent features. It has also been reported that the game can be customized through conversation with the help of generative AI support. This idea is interesting, but how it will work, how it will affect the game’s balance, and how natural it will feel are currently unclear. No release date has been announced for Zoopunk.

There Are No Ghosts at the Grand

There Are No Ghosts at the Grand reappeared at Gamescom 2026 as a musical hotel renovation game. The game focuses on renovating an abandoned or dilapidated hotel while blending horror and musical elements. It sounds strange on paper, but that’s precisely why it’s so memorable.

The early access release date has also been announced. There Are No Ghosts at the Grand will be released in early access in December 2026. The combination of hotel renovation, ghost rumors, musical storytelling, and a slightly horror-inducing atmosphere makes it one of Gamescom’s strangest but most compelling projects.

The Defiant

Gamescom 2026 also showcased The Defiant, a Chinese military game set in 1942. The game appears to focus on the war between China and Japan. Therefore, it could attract attention not only for its action but also for its historical background.

For now, not many gameplay details have emerged from the presentation. The biggest question will be how carefully and balancedly the game will handle historical events. Atmosphere, mission design, and historical approach are crucial in military games; how The Defiant will approach this aspect will become clearer in later presentations.

Like or Die

NC showcased Like or Die, a new and very fast-paced-looking FPS game, at Gamescom 2026. Featuring a modern, bright, and colorful world, the game boasts an energy similar to Fortnite, with action involving jumping, building, mobile combat, and floating islands.

The game doesn’t seem to rely solely on the classic shooter format. The trailer highlighted building, high mobility, and constant relocation. Character designs also continue NC’s familiar flamboyant style. More details about Like or Die haven’t been released yet, but even the name sounds like a challenge.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation

Final Fantasy VII Revelation made its debut at Gamescom 2026 with a special trailer. The new video, presented by Naoki Hamaguchi, reiterated the game’s Spring 2027 release. A Switch 2 version was also mentioned; this information was previously known, but its re-emphasized appearance on stage was noteworthy.

The trailer showcased massive threats such as the Ruby Weapon, Emerald Weapon, and Ultima Weapon. A quick montage showed team members battling colorful enemies, parachuting, riding chocobo, and attacking monsters with missiles. It was a visually pleasing presentation, but it might have been a little underwhelming for those expecting a major new announcement.

The Witcher 3: Remastered Edition

CD Projekt Red announced The Witcher 3: Remastered Edition at Gamescom 2026. The new version comes with many improvements, including revamped visuals, an improved combat system, better movement feel, enhanced horse handling, updated monsters, reworked skill trees, a transmog system, and a photo mode.

The Witcher 3: Remastered Edition will be released with two major expansion packs. Best of all, it will be a free upgrade for existing game owners. The release date has also been announced: Remastered Edition will be available on September 29th.

The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past

Gamescom 2026 concluded with The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past. The first brief glimpse of the new expansion takes place in a strange and twisted forest region. The scene in the trailer where a tree creature pulls Geralt into its embrace immediately conveyed the dark and fairytale side of the expansion.

The chain on Geralt’s arm also drew particular attention. It was said that this chain is connected to the idea of passing the banner to Ciri. The new region appears peaceful and almost fairytale-like from the outside, but it hides a dark secret beneath. This tone is reminiscent of Toussaint in Blood and Wine, but clearly a more unsettling atmosphere will be established here.

The Witcher 3 Expansion Packs

CD Projekt Red also gave another piece of good news for The Witcher 3 owners at Gamescom 2026. The game’s previous two major expansion packs, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, will be free for everyone who owns the base game. This announcement is a great opportunity, especially for players who joined The Witcher 3 late.

This move, considered alongside the Remastered Edition announcement, makes The Witcher 3 a massive package once again. It brings both visual and mechanical updates, and makes older expansions more accessible. The timing is excellent for those who want to return to The Witcher 3 before Songs of the Past.
