Leslie Benzies, the former president of Rockstar North, responded in writing to the “Epstein files” allegations that have recently surfaced on social media and in some news sources. Benzies categorically denied the accusations, claiming they were distorted and untrue.

Leslie Benzies’ Clear Denial

In a statement sent to Kotaku through his spokesperson, the former Rockstar North president stated that all the accusations were baseless. Benzies said he had only a three-month, consensual relationship with the person at the center of the allegations, and that there was no other criminal element involved.

Former Rockstar North President Epstein Denies Allegations

The statement specifically addressed allegations linked to Jeffrey Epstein. Benzies emphasized that he never met Epstein and had no contact with any island, property, or aircraft belonging to Epstein. He specifically stated that these allegations were “misleading” and did not reflect the truth.

While the allegations suggest that current Rockstar president Sam Houser was also aware of the situation, it is stated that this information is based on the personal account of a third party and does not establish a direct, concrete link to Epstein or the crimes committed. Therefore, it is emphasized that the allegations have no legal basis.

As a reminder, Leslie Benzies left Rockstar in 2016 and later founded the studio Build A Rocket Boy. Benzies’ statement is noteworthy as it is the first comprehensive response to these allegations that have resonated in the gaming world. How the process will proceed and how the public debate will unfold will become clearer in the coming days.
