Newell, who previously stated he lived on a boat and continued working seven days a week, is now back in the news with his new purchase in Florida.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Gabe Newell purchased a beachfront mansion in Manalapan, Florida, for $71 million. The previous owners were reportedly Cindy and Ron McMackin, founders of the mechanical subcontracting company Pan-Pacific Mechanical.

The mansion offers much more than a classic luxury home. It features an eight-car garage, an outdoor swimming pool, a private dock, and a boat lift. Given Newell’s passion for the sea and boats, the dock and boat equipment are certainly well-suited to his lifestyle.

The most striking detail of the house is the private underground tunnel connecting to the beach. This tunnel provides more discreet and direct access to the beach from a section of the mansion. The house also includes an elevator for movement between floors. In short, Newell’s new home stands out not only for its size but also for the extraordinary details it offers.

While this purchase seems quite expensive, it’s not the only major spending spree for Newell, whose net worth is estimated to be around $11 billion. The Valve boss recently reportedly purchased a $500 million superyacht with a game room and a $300 million deep-sea research vessel.
