God of War Series May have Found a New Actor for Kratos
The debate over who will play Kratos in the God of War series has resumed. While the production team continues its search for the lead actor, some images shared on social media have strengthened rumors that a particular name is emerging as a frontrunner for the role. However, there has been no official casting announcement from Amazon MGM Studios or Sony Pictures Television yet.
The God of War Role of Kratos Could Go to Adam Scherr
WWE star Adam Scherr shared a photo on his social media account of himself dressed like Kratos with the hashtags “#ImHim” and “#Kratos”. The image quickly gained widespread attention, with many fans arguing that Scherr’s physique could make him a suitable choice for the character. Some users, however, thought the post was just a humorous fan choice.
However, a second post, which came about four hours later, further strengthened the claims. This time, Scherr posted a photo of himself holding an Amazon visitor’s pass that had been issued a few days earlier. The fact that the caption consisted only of dots and question marks was interpreted as the professional wrestler alluding to a possible meeting without directly stating it.
It was reported that Ryan Hurst tore his bicep during a stunt scene and underwent surgery. Because the role of Kratos requires intense physical preparation, it was deemed unsafe for the actor to return to set quickly. Not wanting to delay filming until 2027, the production team decided to change the lead actor, even though four episodes had already been completed.
Adam Scherr’s casting as Kratos has not yet been officially confirmed by Amazon or Sony. The series will also feature Callum Vinson, Teresa Palmer, Max Parker, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Mandy Patinkin, and Ed Skrein. While the release date for God of War has not been announced, Scherr’s visit to Amazon and his Kratos post suggest he is one of the strongest candidates for the lead role.
