God of War Trilogy Remake Announced
The God of War Trilogy Remake was officially confirmed with a surprise announcement at the State of Play event in February, making Kratos’ return to the Greek mythology era no longer a dream. While the future of the series after Ragnarök was a subject of speculation, Santa Monica Studio surprised everyone by announcing that they are working on remakes of the first three games. This finally confirmed long-standing rumors.
What Stage is the God of War Trilogy Remake At?
TC Carson, the original Kratos voice actor, announced during the event that the project is in active development. However, the team is still in the early stages. Therefore, expecting gameplay footage or a release date in the near future doesn’t seem realistic. Nevertheless, the emphasis on a “big comeback” has already raised expectations.
The remake package is said to reconstruct the Greek mythology era of the series with modern technologies. More up-to-date visuals, reworked animations, and potential gameplay improvements are on the agenda. Especially considering the technical power of God of War 3, how the first two games will look with a next-generation engine is already a subject of curiosity.
Another surprise in the announcement was God of War: Sons of Sparta. This two-dimensional spin-off project, focusing on Kratos’s youth, stands out with its hand-drawn pixel animation style. Moreover, the game was released as a shadow version with the announcement and is currently available for purchase. Standard and Deluxe editions are available.
There’s still a long way to go for the God of War Trilogy Remake, but even the idea of returning to the series’ roots is enough to excite fans. Returning to the bloody and furious era of Greek mythology with a modern twist could be one of the biggest projects for PlayStation in the coming years.
