GTA 6 will have Significantly More Interior Spaces than Previous Games
Rockstar Games’ 26-minute GTA 6 Extended Look presentation offered the most comprehensive official look yet at the game’s mission structure and open world. Jason and Lucia were seen moving through numerous indoor locations, from drug dens and apartments to nightclubs and various mission areas. It’s clear that these areas aren’t just for short cutscenes; they’ll be a significant part of the gameplay and exploration.
GTA 6 Makes Indoor Spaces Much More Important Than in Previous Games
In the opening of the Extended Look, Jason and Lucia enter a drug den during a job for Boobie Ike. As a police raid begins, the conflict moves to the corridors of the apartment complex, and players navigate through narrow spaces searching for an escape. This section was one of the clearest examples yet of how indoor spaces are directly incorporated into mission design.
Beyond that, Extended Look had many details that were quite easy to miss. We’ve compiled these small systems and gameplay tips in our separate article, GTA 6 Extended Look: 10 Important Details You Missed. Those who want a more general overview of what happened during the presentation can check out our GTA 6 Extended Look: What Did We See? article.
Lucia’s house also shows how Rockstar plans to utilize these spaces. Jason can open the refrigerator and choose from different drinks, watch television, and move freely around the apartment. These small interactions suggest that enclosed spaces will not remain merely decorative but will become playable living areas.
The presentation also showed nightclubs, parties, and different mission locations. A mission where Jason and Lucia act as getaway drivers for bank robber Raul Bautista and another where they protect real estate mogul Andreas DeLeon are moved to different interior spaces. This shows that the variety of missions in the city isn’t just about driving and shooting on the streets.
While Vice City still looks set to be GTA 6’s biggest star, Rockstar’s focus on building interiors this time could make the game world even more intense. Extended Look didn’t reveal the exact number of enterable structures, but the examples shown strongly suggest GTA 6 will have far more detailed interiors compared to previous Grand Theft Auto games.
