GTA 6’s Wanted System is Much More Dynamic than Previous Games

Following Rockstar Games’ new gameplay demonstration, more detailed information about GTA 6’s wanted system has emerged. While the series’ classic six-star wanted tier returns, the way police track players is also significantly changing. Masks, clothing, vehicles, and even hairstyles can now be useful in evading the police.

GTA 6 Wanted System Will Track Player Identity

In GTA 6, concealing your face with a mask or other face covering while committing a crime will directly affect gameplay. If the police can’t fully see your identity during the crime, it will be possible to escape undetected by removing the mask and leaving the scene. This offers a much more detailed structure compared to the simple out-of-line system in previous games.

In the new presentation, we’ve compiled other details that weren’t easily noticed in our article “GTA 6 Extended Look: 10 Important Details You Missed.” Those who want to see the missions, gameplay mechanics, and Vice City details shown in the entire presentation in more detail can check out our article “GTA 6 Extended Look: What Did We See?”

Police will be able to track not only your character but also the vehicle you’re using. If a specific car is identified after a crime, it will be possible to break the pursuit by changing vehicles the moment you disappear from sight. Similarly, police will be able to learn your character’s physical characteristics and clothing over time. In this case, changing clothes or a new hairstyle could directly affect the search process. You might even be able to carry spare clothes in the trunk of your car.

As the wanted level increases, escaping will become more difficult. Especially after three stars, simply jumping into an ordinary car and driving straight away may not be enough. You may need to switch to faster vehicles or use narrow streets and areas inaccessible to vehicles on foot in densely populated areas. Thus, knowing the environment well will become a significant advantage in police chases.

There will also be another option when Jason and Lucia are being sought together. The two characters can split up, dividing the police’s attention, with one escaping while the other draws the pursuing team’s attention. Combined with the return of the six-star wanted system, these new mechanics will make police chases in GTA 6 far more planned and dynamic compared to previous games.
