Elden Ring 1.17 Update Released: What’s New?
FromSoftware has released update 1.17 for Elden Ring on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. The update brings free balance changes and bug fixes in preparation for the Tarnished Pack DLC, which will be released on August 28th. Players who purchase the new content pack will gain access to two starting classes, new weapons, different skins for Torrent, and additional NPC invasions.
Elden Ring 1.17 Update Prepares for Tarnished Pack Content
The main new features coming to the game with the Tarnished Pack are as follows:
- Two new starting classes: Idus Knight and Heavy Knight
- New weapons that can be found throughout Lands Between or purchased from merchants
- Three different Spectral Steed Attires for Torrent:
- Tree Sentinel Spectral Steed Attire
- Silver of Caria Spectral Steed Attire
- Funereal Night Spectral Steed Attire
- New NPC invasion event in Caelid
- New NPC invasion event in Leyndell, Royal Capital
There are also quite extensive changes on the balance side. The critical hit power of Smithscript Dagger and Rellana’s Twin Blades has been increased, while the stamina consumption of Smithscript Axe, Smithscript Spear, and Spear of the Impaler’s throwing attacks has been reduced. The Intelligence scaling of Carian Sorcery Sword has also been changed to now affect all damage types. In addition, the guard boost values of some large shields have been increased and their weights reduced.
The significant changes to abilities and spells are as follows:
- Parry performance improved
- Storm Wall no longer consumes FP
- Thops’s Barrier parry performance improved
- Founding Rain of Stars and Carian Retaliation strengthened
- Meteorite and Meteorite of Astel cooldown reduced
- O, Flame! attack range extended
- Rain of Fire and Feather of the Divine Bird strengthened
On the PvP side, Rakshasa’s Great Katana will deal more damage on attack. Rugalea’s Roar’s damage to players has been reduced; Rotten Breath and Ekzykes’s Decay’s immobilization duration has also been reduced.
Bug fixes include Great Katana critical hits dealing less damage to larger enemies and jump attacks being parried. On PC, issues with not being able to move the camera with the mouse during NPC conversations and not being able to reset keyboard/mouse settings have been fixed.
The Tarnished Pack will be released on August 28th and will cost $4.99 for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox users. The Elden Ring Tarnished Edition for Nintendo Switch 2 will include this content directly in the pack. After the update, the game version will appear as App Ver. 1.17 and Regulation Ver. 1.17.
