PlayStation 5 26.06-14.00.00 Update Released : What’s Changed?
New system software has been released for PlayStation 5, and some features previously tested with beta users are now available to everyone. In this update, Sony has made the Welcome Hub slightly more user-friendly, while also making small but potentially useful changes to voice chat and the PS5 Pro. The release number is 26.06-14.00.00.
PlayStation 5 26.06-14.00.00 Update Brings Community Activity Widget
The most notable new feature of the update is the new Welcome Hub widget called Community Activity. It features two different views: Trending Now and Top 10. Trending Now shows currently trending multiplayer games and modes, while Top 10 lists the most popular PS5 games in your country or region over the past week. However, player counts seen in the beta version have been removed from the final release.
The first Top 10 list in the US includes Fortnite, Minecraft, GTA 5, NBA 2K27, Marvel Rivals, Rainbow Six Siege, MLB The Show 26, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, and Wolverine. Because the list varies by country, players can see what games are most played in their region directly on the console.
On the voice chat side, the Display Who’s Speaking feature has been added. When enabled, the name of the person speaking is displayed on the screen, and the location of the indicator can be selected from the Position settings. For PS5 Pro users, the Enhance PSSR Image Quality option is now enabled by default. Sony also states that they have made improvements to overall system performance and stability.
In some countries and regions, there is a new option under Advanced Settings to completely turn off Bluetooth. This setting is especially designed for situations where many controllers are used in the same environment, such as esports events. When Bluetooth is turned off, rest mode and HDMI Device Link do not work, so it’s not very practical for everyday use. The real highlight of the PlayStation 5 26.06-14.00.00 update is the ability for players to see what’s popular in their region directly from the home screen.
